Warranties for new cars

Warranties explained

Most consumers, do not realise that they have the right to choose who services their vehicle. Consumer law was updated in 2010 to reflect that their manufacturer's warranty will not void if they take their vehicle somewhere else.

There are two main types of new car warranties.

A vehicle manufacturer's warranty is a promise to the consumer that the vehicle will be free from defects for a certain period of time.  In the event of any defects, the consumer is entitled to a repair or compensation by the vehicle manufacturer.

For this type of warranty, new vehicle servicing is permitted at Automotive Solutions Greerton, as vehicles are serviced in accordance with the manufacture's requirements:

  1. Servicing is carried out according to the manufacturer's instructions by qualified trained technicians
  2. Quality replacement parts are used
  3. Fluids and lubricants also meet manufacturer's specifications

Extended warranties offered by dealers

It is common practice for car dealers to offer their own extended warranties on new cars.  These usually begin at the completion of the manufacturer's warranty.

A common requirement for an extended dealers warranty is that the car be serviced by the dealer offering the warranty.  In this instance, an independent workshop such as Automotive Solutions service will void the warranty if they service the car under this extended warranty.
